The hands are the instruments of man's intelligence.”- Maria Montessori

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR Aloha my name is Vanessa Valencia. I hold a Masters of Arts in Teaching in Early Childhood Education and Montessori. Guiding children is one of my passions. Children are joyous little beings with so many gifts to share. Over the past 15 years I have worked with a variety of children with different learning styles and abilities. I believe in the importance of developing a love of learning and providing the tools for children to find their gifts. I enjoy guiding the children towards their success along with providing a nurturing atmosphere where children can learn and grow to cultivate mindfulness, effective communication, learn to care for Mother Nature and become a positive force in their life and a positive contribution to our society. My teaching philosophy: The spirit of the child is my number one priority. I wish to invite the child to develop his or her inner motivation towards his or her interests as they learn to respect, honor, care for and love themselves, the environment and humanity. I believe that through nature-based solutions, value-based learning and social-emotional learning we can help to create foundations as a model to create peace in children's lives and our communities. SPEAKER / ADVOCATE As an Early Childhood Educator, dedicated Peace Educator, Certified Youth Mental Health Specialist (CYMHS) and Collaborator for the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) I speak on behalf on the children. I enjoy supporting caregivers, parents, educators, communities and policy makers to understand the value of early childhood education, children's wellness equity and the impact it has on the child's developing brain and it effect on their and society's future. FOCUS My speaking engagements focus on Holistic Early Childhood Development, Social Emotional Learning Session, Nature-Based Solutions For Early Childhood and Montessori Heart In The Home. Through sessions and interactive workshops I aim to empower audiences to create holistic and compassionate environments to support children’s wellness.

The secret of good teaching is to regard the child's intelligence as a fertile field, in which seeds may be sown to grow under the heat of flaming imagination. Our aim therefore, is not merely to make the child understand and memorize facts but to touch his imagination and to interest the child to his innermost core. We do not want complacent pupils, but eager ones: we seek to sow life in the child rather than theories, to help the child grow mentally, socially, emotionally and physically." - Maria Montessori
